Junior Division

Advanced Competitive Track- Junior Division

Junior Red, Ages 7-9 years

Group Focus:  Daily/on-going stroke work, introduction to primary racing skills and situations, and development of all racing turns and starts. Emphasis is placed heavily on good technique while developing the essentials of competitive swimming. Progress in this group will be measured by proper technique and strength of stroke.     ,

Placement:
  Coach recommendation/placement. Swimmers in this group are able to swim 25-50 yards legally of all four competitive strokes, perform a legal 100 IM and know the basic progressions for for underwater streamlines, flip turns and IM turns.
*The Head Age Group Coach and/or the 8 & Under Director will evaluate the individual PRIOR to making a recommendation/ placement.


Practices:
Monday-Thursday, 1 hour  (Recommend 3 practices per week)



Junior White, Ages 9-12
Group Focus: Continued stroke technique of all four competitive strokes as well as the introduction of aerobic conditioning, strengthening of kicking technique and beginning training sets. Understanding how to use the pace clock, proper lane etiquette, and how to create a race strategy are factors taught at this level.  Progress in this group will be measured by proper technique held over longer distances, strength of stroke and improved kicking ability.

Placement:  Coach recommendation/placement. Swimmers in this group are able to swim 50 yards legally of all four competitive strokes with proficient technique, perform a legal 100/200 IM and flipurns/open turns and are physically ready to be introduced to competitive swim training. Parent participation in all CA hosted meets.
*The Head Age Group Coach will evaluate the individual PRIOR to making a recommendation/ placement.

Practices:
Monday-Saturday, 1.25-1.5hrs, & Drylands (3 practices/week for 9-10yrs; 4 practices/week for 11-12yrs)

Junior Black, Ages 10-12
Group Focus: Emphasis on refining and perfecting technique, self-responsibility, being a teammate, team pride and increased dryland.  Total body conditioning in conjunction with aerobic fitness is emphasized and kicking demands are increased. Swimmers utilize more advanced training methods and advanced stroke  technique drills with instruction in all strokes and events. The ability to modify strokes and utilize advanced starting, turning, race tempo techniques and race strategy are also reinforced.  Swimmers will compete in a full range of events/distances, achieving IMX score in each competitive season.

Placement:
  Coach recommendation/placement. Exhibit advanced skills in the four competitive swimming strokes and have progressed to a level to handle increased practice demands, increased intensity and more complex training. Parent involvement in all club activities and meet hosting responsibilities.
*The Head Age Group Coach will evaluate the individual PRIOR to making a recommendation/ placement.

Practices:
Monday-Saturday, 1.5-1.75hrs, & Drylands (Regularly attend 4 practices per week)
