Swim Team Groups

Crawfish Aquatics Competitive Swim Team Programs
Crawfish Aquatics offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. Our goal is to offer age-specific and ability-specific training that challenges and develops each swimmer to the best of his or her abilities.

Our swim team program is a year-round program of controlled competitive progression from novice through senior-level swimming, divided into 4 Divisions: 8 & Under, Age Group Development, Junior and Senior. Our Developmental Competitive Track groups (8 & Under, Age Group Development) offers practice groups for entry to intermediate level swimmers. Our Advanced Competitive Track groups (Junior and Senior) are for experienced swimmers moving beyond the Developmental Competitive track.  All swimmers are offered a full, local meet schedule (Baton Rouge and 1-hour travel range, approximately once per month), with additional travel trip meet opportunities as a swimmer’s performance level increases.

Developmental Competitive Track  8 & U and Age Group Development Divisions

Structure
Age first, then current skills and ability. These groups provide an entry group to our beginner and intermediate level swim team groups for incoming swimmers and for those swimmers graduating from our Novice Program. Most swimmers ages 5-13 will begin here to develop base technical, practice and competition skills. Swimmers move into Advanced Competitive groups per coach placement.
Skill Level Requirements

Practice groups are broken up by incoming skills--from those swimmers meeting the minimum starting skills for swim team (25 yards freestyle, backstroke), to swimmers that have participated in summer league/ middle school/ high school and have learned the 4 competitive strokes. Placement in a particular group is based on year-round participation, previous participation or a tryout. Group structure may vary each season based on the level of swimmers in the program and the level of swimmers new to the team.

Focus

Practice time will be dedicated to skill improvement, drills, aerobic development, knowledge of competitive rules and fun. As a swimmer progresses within the Division they will also gain greater competitive experience, learn about racing, and become more aware of swimming times and goals. Practice Groups maintain a low swimmer to coach ratio and progress through a system of drills/techniques for ultimate stroke development of all four competitive strokes, starts and turns.

Swimmers may commit to the sport year round or by seasons
There are seasonal breaks, and typically the seasons are as follows:
-Fall Season: Mid-August to mid-December (or option to swim up until start of Spring Season)
-Spring Season: Mid-January to mid-May
-Summer Season- June & July
As not all swimmers in the Age Group Development Division will swim year-round (all 3 seasons),
re-registration will be done for each season that a swimmers wishes to participate.
