Crawfish Aquatics offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and skill levels. Our goal is to offer age-specific and ability-specific training that challenges and develops each swimmer to the best of his or her abilities.

Evaluations for Group Placement

We place swimmers in the practice group we feel will have the greatest benefit and the most positive impact on each athlete. 

  • Start of Season Evaluations will always be held at the start of Fall and Summer season (mid-August and late May).
  • Monday – Thursday at 4:15pm or 5:15pm (check for Friday availability) during the school year.
  • During the summer season (June/July), please arrive 15 minutes prior to start of practice & check in at the Info Booth.
  • Group and Enrollment information will be provided following your group placement
  • Swimmer will be able to join practice that day depending on the schedule or at the following practice day

Fall 2017 Swimmer Placement Evaluations

August 14 or 15 (choose the day that works best for you!)
4:30-5:00pm 8 & Under;  5:00-5:30pm 7-14 years
Practices for 8 & U and Age Group division start August 16
Practices for Novice begin August 28
If you would like to be evaluated the week of July 24-27, email Helen@crawfishaquatics.com to schedule. No evaluations will be done between July 28 and August 13.

Swim Meets

Swimmers are offered a full, local meet schedule (primarily at CA Baton Rouge location or 1-hour travel range, approximately once per month), with additional travel trip meet opportunities as a swimmer’s performance level increases. Novice Group meet options will vary- typically one meet at the end of each season.

Transitional group from swimming lessons into the world of competitive swimming.

Fall 2017 Season begins August 28.
Fall Season group placement evaluations for NEW SWIMMERS will be offered August 14-15 at 4:30pm or 5:15pm (choose one day to attend).​

Starting Requirements
•Ages:  4-12 years
•Float (front and back) without assistance from an instructor
•Kick on front and back for 15 yards (4-8 yrs) and 25 yards (9-12 yrs) without assistance from an instructor
•Swim some freestyle with breathing (will pick up their head to breathe) for 25 yds
•Emotional & social maturity to be independent of parent and/or caretaker throughout the time allotted for the practice. 

Practice Schedule / Enrollment Options (Fall & Spring seasons)   REGISTER
-Enrollment options:  2 day,  Mon/Wed or Tues/Thur  
-Practice times:
3:40-4:20pm, Ages 4- 8 years //  4:30-5:10pm, Ages 4-6 years // 5:15-5:55pm, Ages 7-9 years
6:00-7:00pm, Ages 10-14 years

Practice Schedule/Enrollment Options (Summer Season)
-Practice times: 
9:00am, 3:45pm, 4:30pm for ages 4-8yrs;  
5:15-5:55pm for ages 7-10yrs
6:00-7:00pm for ages 9-12yrs.​
-Enrollment options:  2 day,  Mon/Wed or Tues/Thur  ​

Division Goals: ​
-Learn freestyle & backstroke through the use of drills and training of motor skills
-Develop competitive swimming base skills of breath control, balance, body position in the water and kicking. 
-Progress in this group will be measured on developing skills and technique rather than on speed in the water.

Program Advancement: 
-Swimmers typically participate in at least 2-3 seasons in Novice before advancing to the next division.
-Curriculum is structured for multi-season enrollment.
-Placement following Novice division will be the Developmental Competitive Track (8 & Under Division or Age Group Development Division, depending on age).

Learn & Improve Stroke Technique in a Team Setting

Fall 2017 Practice Schedule will begin August 16 & 17.
Fall Season group placement evaluations for NEW SWIMMERS will be offered August 14-15 at 4:30pm (choose one day to attend).​

Starting Requirements
-Ages 4-8
-Swim 25 yards freestyle with working knowledge of bilateral breathing (breathes to the side)
-Swim backstroke for 25 yards
-Skill sets in this division will range from the minimum starting level to knowledge of all 4 competitive strokes.
-Placement in a particular practice group is dependent on current skill set, year-round participation, previous participation or a tryout. 
 *This group offers a year-round practice schedule.​

School Year Practice Schedule / Enrollment Options (August to May)    REGISTER 
-Practice times:  Mon-Thurs 3:40-4:30pm or 4:30-5:20pm
-Enrollment options:  2 day, Mon/Wed or Tues/Thur  or  4 day, Mon-Thurs
-Tuition is paid monthly by automated system (CC or ACH).  $65 (2 day) or  $85 (4 day) per month ($10 sibling discount)​.
 
Summer Season Registration Options (June/July)  
-Summer is the only "season-based" registration option for this group. 
-Practice times:  Mon-Thurs 9:00-9:45am or 4:30-5:15pm
-Enrollment options:  2 day,  Mon/Wed or Tues/Thur  or  4 day, Mon-Thurs​
-Tuition for the Summer Season is paid in full for June/July (pro-rated for later season registrants- current pro-rate will populate on the online registration form check out page).

Division Goals:
-Practice time will be dedicated to skill improvement, drills, aerobic development, knowledge of competitive rules and fun. 
-Develop a solid base of technical, practice and competition skills for future success in the Age Group or Junior Division.
-The monthly enrollment flexibility allows young multi-sport athletes to stay in touch with the water throughout the year or seasonally by continuing to develop competitive swimming skills and race in meets throughout the year. 

8 & U-I, 8 & U-II, 8 & U-III: 
Each swimmer is assigned to a practice group based on their age, ability and skill level, desire to attend practices and participate in meets. This produces a more focused skill development based on the skill set of each practice group. 
For communication purposes, information will be distributed by the Division; practice group levels are coach-designations for the purposes of daily practice plans and season objectives.

Learn & Improve Stroke Technique in a Team Setting

-Ages 9-14
-Swim 50 yards freestyle with working knowledge of bilateral breathing (breathes to the side)
-Swim backstroke for 25 yards
-Skill sets in this division will range from the minimum starting level to knowledge of all 4 competitive strokes.
 *This group offers a year-round practice schedule.

School Year Practice Schedule / Enrollment Options (August to May)      ​REGISTER
-Practice times:  Mon-Thurs 5:30-6:45pm;  Friday, 4:45-6:00pm; Saturday, 9:15-10:30am  
-Enrollment options:  M/ W/ F or S    or   T/ Th/ F or S    (can alternate the F & S practice)
 *Friday/Saturday practice schedule will vary based on time of year or swim meet schedule.
-Tuition is paid monthly by automated system (CC or ACH).   $85 per month ($10 sibling discount).

Summer Season Registration Options (June/July)   
-Summer is the only "season-based" registration option for this group.
-Practice times:  Mon-Thurs 9:00-10:00am, 5:15-6:15pm or 6:15-7:15pm
-Enrollment options:  4 day, Mon-Thurs​
-Tuition for the Summer Season is paid in full for June/July (pro-rated for later season registrants)

Division Goals:
-Practice time will be dedicated to skill improvement, drills, aerobic development, knowledge of competitive rules and fun. 
-Develop a solid base of technical, practice and competition skills for future success in Junior White, Senior Red or HS Prep Group.
-The monthly enrollment flexibility allows young multi-sport athletes to stay in touch with the water throughout the year or seasonally by continuing to develop competitive swimming skills and race in meets throughout the year. ​

AGD-I, AGD-II, AGD-III: 
Each swimmer is assigned to a practice group based on their age, ability and skill level, desire to attend practices and participate in meets. This produces a more focused skill development based on the skill set of each practice group. 
For communication purposes, information will be distributed by the Division; practice group levels are coach-designations for the purposes of daily practice plans and season objectives.

The High School group is run year round in seasons, offering swimmers a training option during the fall HS Swim season or an off-season program to continue physical fitness training, improve stroke technique  develop swimming speed and refine racing skills. 

Starting Requirements for HS Prep Group
-Ages 13-18
-Swim 100 yards freestyle and 50 yards backstroke
-Skill sets in this group will range from the minimum starting level to proficiency in all 4 competitive strokes.

Practice Schedule / Enrollment Options (August to May)      ​​
This group is offered year-round with monthly enrollment options.
-​​Tuition is paid monthly by automated system (CC or ACH).   $85 per month ($10 sibling discount)
-Monday-Thursday- 6:15-7:30pm
*Practices resume on August 16. Time may vary slighthly and will be confirmed the week of August 7. This group will integrate in with Senior Red for the Mon-Thur practices (swim only).

Summer Season Registration Options (June/July)    
-Summer is the only "season-based" registration option for this group.
-Practice times & days:  Mon-Thurs 6:15-7:30pm
-Tuition for the Summer Season is paid in full for June/July (pro-rated for later season registrants)

​These groups are for the intermediate to advanced competitive swimmer ages 7 and older.  Swimmers are recommended for these Advanced Competitive groups by coaching staff and approved by the Head Coach or Head Age Group Coach. 

Advanced training concepts, race strategies, and dryland training are added to a foundation of increased skill and aerobic development. Swimmers commit to the sport year-round as pre-requisites for moving into the higher levels of each division.

These groups require swimmer evaluation and coach placement.

Fall 2017 Season group placement evaluations will be offered August 14-15 at 4:30pm or 5:15pm.​

The Homeschool swim team program is designed for children ages 5 years and older with early afternoon practice options in the fall and spring. Practices are designed to teach the basics of stroke technique as well as introducing the skills of dives, turns, streamlines and body position.   Swimmers will also have competitive opportunities.

Minimum Skills Level required to begin this program
Skill Level requirements are set up to ensure that each child will be able to progress and thrive in the program setting.     
-Swim 25 yards freestyle
-Swim 25 yards backstroke
-Skills performed without assistance from a coach in the water
-Ages 5 & Older
